the flagship institute of the R.S.S.T, was established in 1963
with mandate to provide technical education of the highest order and
to mould responsible citizens of tomorrow. Since then R.V.C.E
has been catalyst of change in engineering education in Bangalore
University, from the building blocks of engineering-Civil, Mechanical,
Electrical to the cutting edge of information Technology & Telecommunications.
R.V.C.E provides the impetus to propell a new generation of engineers
to take India into the next millennium. Discipline has been
ingrained into the R.V.C.E students by the principal and the Staff.

boasts of a sprawling campus spread over 52 acres on Mysore Road,
just 13 kms from the heart of the city.

Campus
spread over 52 acres on Mysore Road, just 13 Kms, from the heart of
the city. The campus provides a stimulating environment 'Far from
the maddening crowd, as it were, large independent blocks interspersed
with lawns, gardens and a profusion of trees provides the ideal setting
for all round development.
The college
provides vital infrastructure in the form of extensive computerized
library facilities, lecture halls, auditorium, audio-video theatres,
design studios and in-house computer centres. The independent library
block houses over 32,000 volumes and over 90 journals, with an open
stack system
In addition
to academic excellence R.V.C.E boasts of a strong sporting tradition.
It is often said that the college is the gateway to the India cricket,
basketball and table-tennis teams. Extensive sporting facilities,
multistation gymnasium, floodlit indoor basketball court, table-tennis
rooms and a cricket stadium are available.
Electrical
& Electronics Engineering

laboratories, in-house computing facilities, separate faculty for
Measurements, Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and High Voltage
engineering.

- Only
college within Bangalore University to provide facilities for High
Voltage experiments.

entirely in-house Power Electronics laboratory.

participation of faculty and students alike in seminars and conferences
with a number of papers presented by the students.

circuits and Microprocessors, Carrier Communication & Microwave,
Industrial Electronics and Simulation & Design.

Library & book bank facilities with volumes of IETE & technical
magazines as well as text books.
- Anticipated
Government grant from the Ministry of Human Resources Development
valued at Rs.50 Lakh for the creation of Microwave & digital
Communication lab under the area of Advanced Radio Communication
and ISDN (functional).

funds to the tune of Rs.40 lakh are in pipeline for the creation
of additional facilities.

computing facilities with 16 high-end workstations.

Telecommunication Engineering
INFRASTRUCTURE:
Presently
the infrastructure offered by the Electronics & Communications
Department is being utilized. The department is expected to
develop in due course of time.
Chemical Engineering
INFRASTRUCTURE:
- Over
19,000 square feet of class rooms, lecture halls, presentation halls,
and laboratories
- Eight
well equipped labs namely mechanical operations, momentum transfer,
thermodynamics, unit processes, mass transfer, heat transfer, process
control and reaction engg.
- Library
facilities with over 2000 volumes and 7 technical journals.
- In-house
computing facilities for process design.
- A
number of papers presented on subjects dealing with hold-up studies
in packed column, photo electric cells, thin film coating of diamond
using plasma vapour deposition etc., by the students at IIT Delhi,
CERCI Karaikudi, MRSI Hyderabad etc.

Computer Science & Engineering
INFRASTRUCTURE:
- Over
20,000 sq. ft. of independent block, housing lecture halls, audio-visual
rooms, faculty rooms, in-house library and laboratories.
- Centrally
air-conditioned and well furnished Software labs. The Hardware
Labs are supplied with filtered air.
- All
Laboratories have backup supplies from UPS and generators.
- Unix
Lab consisting of landmark II - Intel 486 based Multibus II Supermini
system with 30 terminals with all the software under Unix.
- Three
Independent LANS with EISA 486 servers with 25 nodes each, for Proficiency
and software development in Pascal, C, C++, Fortran, Wordstar, MASM,
4GLs etc.,
- A
few number of stand alone systems with digitisers, Plotters, Mouse
etc., for Autocad and 4GLs.
- A
Hardware Lab with training in Microprocessors, Microcontrollers,
interfacing modules and assembly code etc.
- Project
work & research activities in the fields of Networking, Graphics,
Image processing, Data Acquisition System, Neutral Network, Expert
System, OOPs, Compilers etc.
Mechanical Engineering
INFRASTRUCTURE:
- An
independent block with over 10,000 square feet of floor space. These
include classrooms, lecture halls, design studios, engineering drawing
halls and faculty rooms.
- Central
workshops with independent carpentry, fitting, foundry, welding,
smithy & machine shops.
- Extensive
laboratories for hydraulics, turbo-machinery, I.C. engines, materials,
metrology quality control & experimental stree analysis.
- R
& D and Manufacturing Centre in Advanced Materials and Manufacturing.
A postgraduate centre affiliated to the University of Mysore
awards doctoral level degrees. Government funded projects
under the aegis of UGC, DST, CSIR, DRDO Organisations, ISRO, AICTE
and KSCST are currently under execution.
- CAD/CAM
& ROBOTICS Lab.
- Over
3,000 volumes of Mech. Engg are available in the library. In
addition, 25 periodicals are subscribed to, an inhouse Book-Bank
facility enables students to borrow textbooks over a semester.
